Classes

Segment One

Students who are at least 14 years and 8 months old may begin Segment 1, where they will learn about car safey, the rules of the road, and begin practice behind the wheel. 

 

Segment 1 is a three week class that consists of 24 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours behind the wheel, and 4 hours of observation in a dual controlled automobile.

 

To pass Segment 1, you must:

  • Complete the classroom component

  • Complete the driving component

  • Pass a written test

 

Classroom Instruction:

  • You must complete at least 24 hours of classroom instruction 

  • You must also pass a written test once you have completed your classroom hours in order to receive a certificate of completion and apply for a Level 1 Learner's License (Learner's Permit).

 

Your driving component consists of:

  • 6 hours behind-the-wheel driving instruction

    • Of these 6 hours, a maximum of 2 hours may be instructed on a multiple-vehicle driving range. However, at least 4 hours MUST be instructed on the road

  • 4 hours observation time in a training vehicle

NOTE:

After 4 hours of classroom instruction students can begin their driving.

Segment Two

Students who have completed segment 1, have had a valid Level 1 Learner's License for at least three months, and have completed at least 30 hours of driving are eligible to to begin Segment 2.

Segment 2 consists of 6 hours of classroom instruction that focuses on defensive driving and prepares students for the Road Test.

​

​After students receive their Level 1 learners permit, they'll need to hold the Level 1 Learner License and complete additional driving practice with a parent/guardian before they will be allowed to enroll in Segment 2 of their driver's educational course.

To begin Segment 2 of Driver's Ed, students must:

  • Have had their Level 1 Learner's License (permit) for at least 3 months (consecutively).

  • Have completed at least 30 hours of practice driving with your parent, guardian, or approved licensed driver who is at least 21 years old; note that 2 hours must have been completed at night.

NOTE:

To pass segment 2, students must complete 6 hours of classroom time. There is no driving component.

Private Drives

Private driving lessons are perfect for:

  • Teens holding a valid driving permit looking for practice before taking a driving test

  • New adult students 18+ 

  • Licensed adults looking to get back on the road

 

*Note: For new drivers under 18 years old, please refer to Segment one and Segment two of driver's training​.

 

What happens during a Private Drive?

  • Lessons are tailored to the needs of the individual driver. This can include skills the driver is looking to improve and/or an evaluation from the driving instructor. The driving instructor will make suggestions for improvement.  

 

How long is a Private Drive?

  • Private Drives are scheduled in one hour blocks. We would love to work with you to determine how many hours you may need.

How much does it cost?

  • Private Drives are billed at $80 per hour. Payment must be completed prior to the private lesson.
